Was Mrs Thatcher right?

 Was Mrs Thatcher right about the national curriculum? Those with long memories will recall that she wanted a narrow compulsory curriculum, covering just English, maths and science.

Now the Commons Children and Schools Committee has concluded that the national curriculum needs to be slimmed down to cover no more than 50% of the timetable.
